Now in the "olden days" (you know, three or four years ago), an Internet Presence meant having a website. Today, with sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest (and others) having a website is only the start. You need to be where your potential customers are, that means your website needs to be mobile optimized (since most of us use our phones for web browsing), you also need social media accounts that contain your branding and messaging plus, everything needs to be maintained and updated on a regular basis.
Oh and if you're a local business, you'll want to make sure Google understands your GeoLocation so your listing comes up when someone is near-by searching for what your business offers
